A man upset at being locked inside the gate at Crescent Lake Thursday drove his truck through the barricade.

Benjamin Andrukiewicz, 22, of 82 Tomlinson Ave. in Plainville is being charged with DUI, reckless driving, second-degree trespass and second-degree criminal mischief.

Police Spokesman Sgt. Lowell DePalma said dispatchers at the station saw the 6:30 p.m. incident through a live feed from security cameras in the parking lot.

Southington Police asked Plainville Police to be on the lookout for the truck, which they pulled over and detained.

A passenger in the vehicle was concerned about the driver's level of intoxication and told him to pull over.

The driver told police he rammed the gate intentionally and that it was not an accident. The incident was captured on video in the police department.

The gate and the chain lock were both damaged in the collision.

DePalma said there have been similar incidents in the past with people being locked inside the gate but most people call police to come and let them out.

A foghorn blows 15 minutes before the park closes to let visitors know about the gate closing.

Andrukiewicz is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court Jan. 26.
